Applying for LJC
Any resident of Johnson County may apply to participate in Leadership Johnson County. Non-residents of Johnson
County can also apply provided those individuals have worked or have been active in the county for at least two (2) years
immediately prior to the time of application. The Leadership Johnson County Board of Trustees selects twenty-five to
thirty-five class members each year. Participants are carefully chosen to reflect geographic, occupational, and
ethnic diversity. People from many stages and walks of life have participated: homemakers, volunteers, professionals,
and retirees. The program has brought together executive directors, community volunteers, CEOs, bank presidents, and
farmers in order to discuss the diverse forces that are at work in Johnson County.
"Especially today, quality leadership is needed. Do we simply exist, allowing things to happen, without any attempt to
influence? It takes leadership to drive progress or to simple protect our basic freedoms. LJC made me more
self-aware. It also made me more accepting of myself and others. Without LJC, I would not know so many things I
know now about Johnson County. This is a terrific place to live an raise a family."
